En Corée du Sud, une base militaire sur la côte veille à ce qu'aucun espion de Corée du Nord ne pénètre dans le pays. Pour nombre de militaires présents, cette mission tient plus de la corvée que du sacerdoce. Le soldat Kang, par contre, prend tout cela très à coeur : il ne vit en fait que pour une chose, pouvoir abattre un espion nord-coréen. Un soir, alors qu'il monte la garde, il aperçoit une ombre sur la plage avoisinante. Pas de doute, un homme se cache derrière les rochers. Kang ouvre le feu et, afin de ne laisser aucune chance à sa cible, lance même une grenade.
